Caithness Glass is known throughout the world for high quality Paperweights and Art Glass. Since our inception in 1961 we have taken our inspiration from the colours of the Scottish landscape - warm peaty tones, purple heather, golden sunsets, the grey blue of the lochs. In 1968 we added glass engraving to our skills and in 1969 we developed innovative techniques for producing abstract paperweights.

Today, our paperweight studios in Crieff combine the finest design and traditional skills to create pieces which are entirely unique and we are now justifiably regarded as one of the world's most respected producers of museum-quality collectable glass paperweights.

As one of Scotland’s most famous brand names, we have a very special birthday. Caithness Glass is still flying the flag for Scottish craftsmanship and celebrating 50 years since it was first established. Since 1961 handmade creations of Caithness have become sought after by buyers and collectors all over the world.

The Society was founded in 1976 by Colin Terris, the genius behind Caithness Glass paperweights for over 30 years, to allow the growing number of enthusiasts around the world to share in the secrets of the art of glassmaking and marvel at the delights of specially designed paperweights - with a selection of limited editions created exclusively for members of the Society.

Each and every Paperweight and Art Glass piece is a unique work of art, designed by our talented designers and individually hand-crafted to the highest possible standards by our skilled makers in the Crieff factory. The ground breaking techniques discovered in the early years of Caithness Glass of abstract creations, quickly led to many different and eye catching designs,
